Free City drop-offs serving the Cape Flats

There are 5 City of Cape Town drop-off facilities serving the Cape Flats. Each is free to residents arriving in a car, trailer or LDV under 1.5 tonnes, capped at three loads a day. Under that cap the trip is usually cheaper than hiring anything. Over it, or when a job runs across several days and the waste has nowhere to sit in the meantime, a skip on the driveway works out cheaper than repeat trips, and you are not the one loading it.

Worth knowing before you load the trailer: Swartklip Drop-Off does not accept builder’s rubble at all. For a renovation strip-out in this area that leaves either a longer drive to a site that does, or a rubble skip on the property.

Loads that go out on a skip from this area are tipped at Coastal Park Landfill on Baden Powell Drive, the southern of the City’s two operational landfills.
