Coastal Park Landfill is on Baden Powell Drive, Muizenberg. The landfill site is open Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00 and closed at weekends. The drop-off facility on the same premises keeps different, longer hours and does open at weekends — which is where most wasted trips come from.
Two facilities, one address, different closing times
Coastal Park is not one gate. There is the landfill, which takes general waste that cannot be reused or recycled, and there is a separate drop-off facility on site for recyclables and household loads. They do not close at the same time, and they do not open on the same days.
Nearly every listing you will find online quotes a single set of hours for “Coastal Park”. That is the drop-off facility’s times. Arrive at 17:00 on a Tuesday with a bakkie of general waste for the landfill and you are an hour late, even though the drop-off next door is still open.

The other operational landfill
The City’s landfill directory lists one other operational landfill: Vissershok Landfill, off the N7 on Frankdale Road near Table View. Vissershok also takes low to medium hazardous waste, which Coastal Park’s accepted list does not mention. Vissershok opens earlier (07:45) and closes earlier (15:45), and its landfill is open on Saturday mornings where Coastal Park’s is not.
