“Bellville South landfill” is what everyone types; the Bellville Integrated Waste Management Facility is what the City runs there today. It is a transfer station in Bellville South Industrial, not a working landfill — general waste is compacted into closed containers and trucked to Vissershok Landfill at the end of each day. The public drop-off is free for residents.
A transfer station, not a landfill
The City uses this site so that refuse trucks working the northern suburbs do not have to drive to a landfill after every round. Waste is offloaded, compacted and moved in bulk to Vissershok Landfill daily. For a resident the practical difference is small — you still drop your load at the public drop-off — but it explains why the gate hours are split three ways.

The hazardous-waste desk — 50 kg per person per day
This is the only facility in our Cape Town dump sites directory with a dedicated household hazardous waste drop-off. It accepts CFLs and lamps, chemical cleaning products, e-waste, old paint and brushes, pesticides, pool chemicals, used batteries, used oils — and asbestos material limited to plant containers, gutters and old cement heaters, all capped at 50 kg per person per day. It refuses medical waste, sanitary waste, gas cylinders and bulk hazardous loads from homes or businesses.
Worth stating plainly: no skip company may carry asbestos in any skip. For a few old cement-sheet offcuts within the limits above, this desk is the legal route; for anything more, a licensed asbestos contractor is the only option.

What can’t go in the Bellville South general drop-off?
