Garden waste skip under a jacaranda, filled with grass, prunings and cut branches — One overgrown garden usually fills more skip than a trailer can move in a weekend.

Frequently Asked Questions: Onrus Skip Hire

Do I need a permit to place a skip in Onrus?

If your skip is placed on your private property (driveway or garden), no permit is required in Onrus. Onrus falls under Overstrand Municipality, not the City of Cape Town, so check with Overstrand Municipality before a skip goes on a public road, pavement or verge.

Which areas near Onrus does Skip Hire ZA also serve?

In addition to Onrus, we deliver skip bins to Durbanville, Table View, and all of the Hermanus/Onrus coastal region. Running the Overstrand coast as a single area means Onrus sits on the same round as Hermanus. If you need skip hire for a property just outside Onrus, call 064 582 1436: we’ll confirm availability.

Where Onrus waste actually goes

Onrus differs from the rest of our service area on one point that matters before you book. Onrus falls under Overstrand Municipality, not the City of Cape Town, so the City of Cape Town’s free drop-off network is for City residents. Overstrand runs its own: it takes clean, sorted building rubble free up to one ton at its Hawston, Kleinmond, Stanford and Pearly Beach drop-offs and the Gansbaai and Karwyderskraal landfills, and bigger loads go to Karwyderskraal. Past that, a skip is the practical option. Loads we collect from Onrus are tipped at a licensed, NEMWA-compliant facility and the disposal is included in the hire price.
